It's our birthday, we forgot to celebrate our 10th, so we are focusing on our fifteenth year of supplying and servicing portable toilets to all manner of businesses.

We started Essential Loo Hire Ltd on 4th November 2009 with a stock of fifty portable toilets.

Ignorance is Bliss

When you look back, 2009 was not the most sensible of times to start a portable toilet business especially as our target market was the construction industry.

In fact, apart from the Covid Pandemic it was just about the worst time in the last 25 years.

Between the years 2001 and 2008 the average number of job vacancies in the construction industry was 25,000 at any one time.

In November 2009 UK demand had plummeted 64% down 16,000 to 9,000 just as we started our Portable Toilet adventure.

Worst recession for 80 years

The 2008-2009 Great Recession caused by the Global Financial Crisis, (remember "sub prime mortgages ?) is considered one of the worst economic events since the Great Depression of 1929.

It kicked off in the USA and spread to Europe, the UK and soon arrived in Claygate, Esher, Surrey KT10 0TB.

No crystal ball obviously, how bad could it be....it was an adventure after all!

The only way was up.

Fifteen years later and we have learnt a lot, and have customers hiring portable toilets now that hired from us in our first year of business.

We supply to the construction industry, from a single toilet outside a semi detached house to phased housing estate developments to commercial construction.

Summer months are the busiest of course.

We have steadily increased our stock of portable toilets over the years and now supply to leisure events including carnivals, Jazz festivals, Garden Parties, sports venues, schools, marathons, fun runs, scheduled Bank Holiday fixtures with thousands in attendance. 

We have a good stock of portable toilets that give access to wheelchairs with significantly larger dimensions compared to the standard toilets.  

We have expanded our range of operations and now operate in Surrey, Middlesex and West London.

A big part of the operation is the delivery, collection and servicing of portable toilets whilst on site.

Onsite Servicing During Events

Depending on the anticipated volume and length of hire we service the toilets on site during the event scheduling our visits in line with the event parameters.
It will be serviced to include a thorough clean and stocking of toilet paper and hand sanitizer.

Onsite Attendants During Events

You also have the option to request an attendant on site throughout the event. Just ask!

When we collect them and return to base, they are thoroughly cleaned and restocked ready for despatch.
